Antique Edwardian Solid Silver Enamel Trophy Cigarette Case 1902 Synyer Beddoes (7369)

An Antique Solid Silver & Enamel
Cigarette Case Bearing A Full Enamel Portrait
Of An Impressive Crown Green Bowling Trophy.
The Rear Of The Case, Inscribed;

"
W & W. B.A,
R. Bowden - 1902
."

The Case measures approx, 4.6cm by 7.5cm, and weighs approx 85.2g.

The case is a presentation awarded to the Winner of the Warwickshire & Worcestershire Open Bowling (Crown Green) competition held in 1902.

This remarkable item bears a full set of Birmingham 1902 (c) Solid Silver hallmarks along with the destinctive "S*B" manufacturer marks for;
"Synyer & Beddoes" one time of Birmingham's Vyse Street.

The fine enamel decoration was applied directley to the case, it is not a modern enamel plaque applied to an antique case. This is a true enamel period decorated case from 1902.

The enamel has a couple of nibbles to the edges and the inner part of the case has lost one elastic retaining loop.
The above points aside the item is in a very good general condition with a strong spring hinge and secure closing action.
The elastic retainer is absent but is not terribly difficult to replace.

The case was made to accept standard period size Cigarettes, approx 6.8cm or hand rolled (not Kingsize).
It could also be used for (sized) business cards, etc.
