A Vintage 1966
Chalice Or Goblet
"W. Bro Capt. C. Knight-Coutts. M.C.
Fort Royal Lodge No 4565
3 March 1967."
The item measures approx, 17.5cm high and 10.3cm in diameter at the foot.
The item weighs approx; 251.2g.
The item bears a full set of Birmingham 1966 (R) Solid Silver hallmarks along with a "JH" manufacturer mark.
The item is in a very good general condition with some light scratching at the foot and a tiny horizontal nick halfway up the knoped stem (mentioned only for accuracy).
Captain Cecil Knight-Coutts M.C. was recorded as a member of Evesham rowing club before enlisting at the beginning of World War One where he served in the Royal Field Artillery. It appears that he won the M.C. during 1917. I have been unable to discover how he earned the medal.
He was also a member of the Special Constabulary and a teacher at Oldbury Grammar School and a member of the Masons.
He died in 1971 aged 91.
